{"id":3038,"date":"2026-03-02T07:52:00","date_gmt":"2026-03-02T07:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portal.maap.eo.esa.int\/earthcare\/?p=3038"},"modified":"2026-03-02T08:12:48","modified_gmt":"2026-03-02T08:12:48","slug":"3038","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/portal.maap.eo.esa.int\/earthcare\/2026\/03\/02\/3038\/","title":{"rendered":"ESA\u2019s 2026 EarthCARE MAAP Hackathon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You are invited to the first <strong>EarthCARE<\/strong> <strong>MAAP<\/strong> <strong>Hackathon!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The main objectives of the hackathon are to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Explore the usage of EarthCARE data <\/strong>through the mission&#8217;s Collaborative Environment hosted <strong>on the ESA MAAP<\/strong>: All EC data are now open, free, and accessible through the MAAP, which provides computing capabilities co-located with the data, along with a suite of tools tailored to support research in this field.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Enhance Accessibility:<\/strong>\u00a0the focus is on making high-quality data resources readily available to users without additional complications, so that researchers can dedicate themselves to the science and not the tools; the hackathon will be the chance to gather feedback for improvements on the MAAP.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Promote Collaboration:<\/strong>\u00a0the hackathon will encourage data sharing and collaborative workflows, allowing experts to work together on the analysis of EC data, on comparisons with other missions, in-situ data, and\/or climate models, and on finding novel usage cases for EC data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The 5-day hackathon will be held <strong>in-person<\/strong>\u00a0between <strong>April 20 \u2013 24, 2026 at\u00a0ESRIN<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 ESA\u2019s centre for Earth Observation programmes \u2013 in\u00a0Frascati (near Rome), Italy.
