How to Join Nextcloud and Create an App Password
It is recommended to save all of your files and folders within my-private-bucket, since everything that is outside of this folder is permanently deleted after 30 days from the last access into Coding.
Introduction
Nextcloud is an open-source platform for file storage, sharing, and collaboration, similar to Google Drive or Dropbox - but it can be self-hosted, giving users full control over their data.
MAAP users can access to Nextcloud with their EO credentials (the same used to access the PAL) and request to be added into a group/organisation. Users can then get access to a dedicated Nextcloud storage, in which upload/download files or folder to share with other team members.
How to request to be part of a Nextcloud group/organisation
To request to be part of a group, first contact your ESA sponsor for approval. Then, you can follow this link to send a new request.
Remember to specify your group/organisation and your ESA sponsor within the "Notes" section of the form.
Once your request has been approved, you can finally see your organisation folder in Nextcloud.
How to generate an app-password (personal token)
First, you need to login into Nextcloud by using your EO credentials. By following this link you will be redirected to the Nextcloud login page. At this point you need to authenticate by clicking on "Log in with ESA MAAP".
Once logged into Nextcloud, go to "Settings" and then "Security". By scrolling down you will find the section "Devices & sessions", where you can generate a new app password. An app password is a token that can be used together with your username in order to access your storage. Choose an app name and then click on "Create new app password" (you will need to insert your EO password to finally generate your token).
Be careful to non lose your app password, since it is not visible for a second time. In case you lose it, you will need to generate a new one.
