Data Access

The ESA MAAP Data Access provides collection and EO product discovery and access through two main services. The Catalogue is a central metadata repository enabling API-driven search and browsing; the Explorer is a user-friendly interface for browsing, WMS/WMTS visualization within a product’s footprint, event subscriptions, and cart management.

Registered users may retrieve complete products (as zip package) or the product’s individual files.

Product Algorithm Laboratory (PAL)

To promote user collaboration, ESA MAAP offers a platform for running and developing algorithms, analysing results, and performing processing tasks. The Product Algorithm Laboratory provides services such as on-demand processing, algorithm customization, systematic processing, and processing campaigns.

It offers workspaces for data management, processor and algorithm execution, and APIs and UIs for job management.

Cloud Infrastructure

The ESA MAAP’s infrastructure, developed collaboratively by infrastructure architects and software developers, leverages mainstream technology to ensure scalability and flexibility.

The ESA MAAP Identity and Access Management (IAM) Service manages user access across ESA MAAP services, providing authentication and authorization. It supports industry standards and it is federated with external providers to allow seamless user federation and authentication.

Manages and scales containerized applications through horizontal scalability. Instead of scaling virtual machines, Kubernetes scales by adding or removing container instances. Applications are scaled up or down by adjusting the number of pods, which are groups of containers scheduled and scaled together.

An open-source cloud computing platform known for its modular architecture, scalability, and flexibility.

Provides flexible, scalable object storage designed to handle high traffic and large data volumes. It ensures high availability, redundancy, data replication, and backup for data integrity and protection.

This robust infrastructure ensures ESA MAAP can efficiently handle varying workloads and deliver reliable services.
